Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south between the ledges that fringe Hoëdic, with Port de l'Argol 0.3 nm to the east as back-up. Mixed sand and rock bottom, holding uneven, drop clear of rocky patches. Keep outside the perimeter marked by four special buoys off the beach, where EDF cables run. Depths of 2 to 4 metres at low water. Shelter from W, SW, S and SE, fully open to the north and east.

Practical

No infrastructure, anchor only on sand. Tender landing on the beach. Free toilets and showers at the campsite by the only stand of tall trees. Water, bins and bakery at the village of Hoëdic, 10 minutes on foot. Fuel berth and visitor pontoons at Port de l'Argol.

Ashore

Fort de Hoëdic, a Vauban-era coastal battery, sits above the cove and now houses a small museum on island life. This is the beach of the island sailing school, and in summer it hosts a late night party known as the gadu, with loud music through to dawn. Village centre with church, bakery and two cafés at 700 m on foot. Sentier du littoral rings the island in about 2 hours.
