Reach of the Aven near Rosbras, between Pont-Aven and the estuary at Port Manec'h, southern Finistere, where anchoring is restricted by shellfish beds and boats use the nearby pontoons instead.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter the Aven from Port Manec'h on a rising tide, the reach sheltered on all sides by wooded banks. Anchoring here appears to be prohibited, the ground being given over to shellfish concessions, and metal oyster frames are sometimes visible on the bottom, so use the Rosbras or Kerdruc pontoons rather than letting go here.
Practical
Rosbras pontoon 0.7 NM to the S, water tap on the quay. Port de Kerdruc 0.7 NM to the S on the opposite bank, restaurants ashore.
Ashore
Village of Kerdruc with two restaurants on the quay. Pont-Aven 3 km upstream, home of the Pont-Aven school of painters around Paul Gauguin in the 1880s, museum in the town centre.
