Approach and anchoring
Approach at half-tide or higher. The bay dries over wide mudflats at low water. Follow the marked channel from the Pertuis Breton. Mud bottom, tenacious holding. Protected from NW through SE, open to SW. Strong tidal streams on springs.
Practical
Moorings managed from Port du Pavé, 0.1 nm to the south, which dries at low water. A mooring fee of around 28 euros a night is charged, with no water, electricity or pontoon access included, and the tariff is not clearly posted. Water and a slip at the port itself. No fuel on site. Nearest chandlery and diesel at La Rochelle, 12 nm south-west.

Village of Charron 1 km inland, known for rope-grown mussels from the Baie de l'Aiguillon AOP. Réserve naturelle nationale de la Baie de l'Aiguillon 2 km north, a major stopover for migratory birds. Saint-Étienne du Pavé chapel on the dyke.
