Approach and anchoring
Approach from the baie de Morlaix. Shelter from W through S to SE, fully exposed to winds from the N and NE quadrants. Holding on sand and mud is generally good, though the anchorage is open and a chop builds quickly when wind meets the tidal stream, which runs up to about 2 knots. Keep clear of the oyster and seaweed beds that give the spot its name.
Practical
No shore facilities at the anchorage itself. Carantec is the nearest village but the dinghy trip is a long, exposed row, so an outboard is advisable; ashore it has a small supermarket, several bakeries, a butcher, a small chandlery with fishing gear and a free bus every 20 minutes. Nearest harbour is Port Diben at 3.9 NM to the NE, and the marina of Roscoff-Bloscon at 4.7 NM to the NW for fuel, water and provisions.
