Small drying ria on the south coast of Finistère between Le Pouldu and Doëlan, sheltered behind the headlands of Beg Morg and Beg Porz.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Narrow entrance oriented NNE, marked by a white daymark on the east side. Approach on the axis of the ria, keep the mark in line to clear the rocks of Men Du. Entrance feasible at any tide, but the upper basin dries from mid-tide. Around 160 moorings on fore-and-aft lines, no pontoon.
Practical
Moorings managed by the local commune. Water tap at the slipway, no fuel, no electricity. Depths dry out, and even the outer buoys can leave a keelboat on the bottom at low water springs, so most boats here carry legs, and a boat must be ready to take the ground. Oysters are sold direct on the shore. Restaurant at the quay, bakery at Moëlan-sur-Mer 4 km inland.
Ashore
Coastal path GR 34 runs along both banks of the ria, linking Merrien to Brigneau 1 NM west and Doëlan 1.7 NM southeast on foot. Sardine cannery ruins at the head of the ria. Beach of Kerfany-les-Pins 3 km by road.
