Guide
Approach and anchoring
The bay is closed off to seaward by low cays, reefs and mangroves and stays calm in strong trade winds. Mud bottom; holding is reported as only fair. The anchorage is crowded with resident and derelict boats on randomly laid moorings. Manatee zone, 5 mph limit.
Practical
Dinghy dock, showers, laundry and water at Marina de Salinas for a small fee; diesel and petrol at its fuel berth. A crew reported a dinghy deliberately damaged at the dock in early 2024, so lock up ashore.
Ashore
Seafood restaurants on the Paseo Ladí, supermarket a little over 1.5 km from the marina. Manatees, turtles, dolphins and spotted eagle rays are regularly seen in the bay.
