Marina of 515 berths at Villeneuve-Loubet, between Nice and Antibes, built at the foot of the pyramid-shaped residential towers designed by architect André Minangoy.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Direct approach from seaward in the Baie des Anges. Entrance between two jetties with red and green lights, dredged channel to 5 m giving access to the largest yachts. Exposed to east winds that build a short chop in the outer basin. The visitor quay doubles as beach access and is busy on summer afternoons and evenings. Nice airport traffic overhead from the north. VHF 9.
Practical
515 berths including places for yachts up to 45 m. Water, electricity, diesel and petrol at the fuel berth. Berthing runs high for the coast, around 58 euros a night for a 10 m boat, and electricity is charged on top, sometimes billed days after departure. Online booking asks for a good deal of paperwork. Capitainerie open year-round, sanitary blocks, laundry, waste pump-out. Shopping gallery on the marina with chandlery, restaurants and supermarket on site.
Ashore
Musée d'Histoire et d'Art de Villeneuve-Loubet at 1.5 km, with the Escoffier culinary museum in the birthplace of chef Auguste Escoffier. Pebble beach of Villeneuve-Loubet along the seafront from the north jetty. The restaurant La Flibuste and a new hotel with a pool and restaurant stand within the marina. Cagnes-sur-Mer and Renoir's Maison des Collettes at 3 km east.
History
The marina and its four pyramid towers were designed by André Minangoy and built between 1969 and 1993. The complex is listed as 20th-century heritage by the French Ministry of Culture.
