Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south, clear of the Var river mouth shoals which shift after floods. Entrance between two moles with red and green lights. Maximum draught 2.8 metres in the channel. Swell from the south-east enters the outer basin. Berthing assistance is not always on hand, and several crews found none on their berth even in strong wind. Some visitor berths lie alongside on the outer seawall, exposed to swell in bad weather, and the marina bars can run loud late. VHF 9.

Practical

1089 berths on thirteen pontoons. Water, electricity, diesel at the fuel berth. Capitainerie, boatyard with 50-tonne travel lift, chandlery, sailmaker on site. A launderette sits by the sanitary block, though from the outer seawall berths the office and showers are a 20 to 25 minute walk. Provisioning is awkward: the Cap 3000 mall with its Monoprix is about 1.4 km, a 15-minute walk, with a small grocery and bakery nearer at around 10 minutes.

Ashore

Promenade des Flots Bleus coastal walk east to Nice, 6 km. Cap 3000 mall at 400 m with over 140 shops and restaurants. Nice airport is 2 NM east, a few minutes by taxi or the number 12 bus from Cap 3000 in about five minutes. Train station of Saint-Laurent-du-Var 800 m north, direct line to Nice and Cannes.
