Fishing harbour of Las Croabas, on the north-east tip of Puerto Rico in Fajardo, the closest mainland departure point for the La Cordillera cays.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Cayo Icacos is 2.2 NM to the north-east. The harbour is shallow, around 1.8 metres on average, and most local boats lie on moorings rather than alongside.
Practical
A public fishing pier where the local fishing boats tie up, with the waterfront park of Las Croabas behind it. Several boat and kayak tours leave from here. Multihulls accepted.
Ashore
Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve, run by the Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico, covers the headland next to the village: 128 hectares with a bioluminescent lagoon, Laguna Grande, and the Cabezas de San Juan lighthouse, first lit on 2 May 1882.
