Type
Harbour

Small tidal harbour on the north shore of the Gulf of Morbihan, west of Vannes, facing the Île aux Moines.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Access from the Gulf of Morbihan through strong tidal streams, up to 8 knots at springs between Port-Navalo and Locmariaquer. Best approach at slack water. Shallow bay that dries in parts at low water. On big coefficients the current across the slipway makes picking up a mooring buoy awkward, and the harbour staff will come out to help pass the strop if asked. Harbour office on VHF 9.

Practical

Mooring buoys and a few pontoon berths managed by the municipal harbour, best checked or reserved by phone before arrival. There is no harbour launch, so crews need their own dinghy to reach the buoys. Water on the pontoon, fuel not available on site. Bakery, grocery and restaurants in the village, all within 300 m of the quay.

Ashore

Boat shuttle to Île aux Moines and Île-d'Arz from the main pier. Embarkation point for the Cairn de Gavrinis, a Neolithic passage tomb on a nearby island, 1.5 km by boat. Coastal path to Pointe de Berchis, 1 km east along the shore.
