Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reaching the étang means passing the Sète bridges, which open on request morning and evening on a set timetable with prior registration online. Approach then via the buoyed channel across the shallow lagoon. Keep clear of the oyster and mussel tables that cover much of the northern shore, and note that the fish farm buoys are hard to pick out at night. Holding is good in about 2 to 5 metres on sand, mud and weed. Sheltered from N and NE; exposed to the S when the marin blows across the lagoon.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no services on the water. Port de Bouzigues lies 0.2 NM west for water, fuel and berths. Shellfish farmers work the tables daily, give them a wide berth under engine.
Ashore
Land on the small beach to the north, or reach Bouzigues 400 m west via the harbour. Shellfish stalls and oyster shacks line the quai du Port, among them the oyster restaurant l'Arseillère, with direct shellfish sales at the west edge of the village and a pizza van by the harbour. Mussel and oyster museum on rue Commandant Cousteau, 500 m from the landing. Coastal cycle path EV8 follows the lagoon shore toward Mèze 6 km west.
