Canal halt at PK 167.5 on the Canal de la Marne au Rhin at Jarville-la-Malgrange, southern suburb of Nancy, 3 berths.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Inland canal access. Maximum draught 1.6 m. Locks operated by VNF. No tidal constraints. The berth is about 75 m of old sheet piling with only two to four bollards, so it helps to carry extra lines.
Practical
Three berths. An Intermarché with a reasonably priced fuel station, and a newer Lidl right behind it, lie close by and make the easiest resupply, the last before the canal climbs away. Port de Nancy 1.6 NM NW with fuller services. Quai de Sainte-Catherine at 1.7 NM NW as an alternative city-side mooring.
Ashore
Nancy city centre reachable by tram or road, around 4 km from Jarville. Place Stanislas, UNESCO World Heritage since 1983, and the École de Nancy Musée for Art Nouveau collections are the main draws.
