Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south around the Pointe de la Parata. The bottom is sand and posidonia, and the clear sand takes only one or two boats, so pick a visible patch in about 8 to 12 metres as the seagrass is protected. Sheltered from NW and W, open to the south and to swell from the Gulf of Ajaccio. Best as a day stop: it rolls in a westerly swell and in the wash of fast tourist shuttles and evening jet skis, and the Grande Sanguinaire is better sheltered for a night at anchor.
Practical
No facilities. Day stop in settled weather. Port Tino Rossi in Ajaccio is 6,8 nm east for provisions and fuel.
Ashore
Sanguinaires archipelago is classified as a Natura 2000 site and listed nature reserve. Genoese tower on Mezu Mare island, built in the 16th century, visible from the anchorage. A landing pontoon at the far end of the island gives access on foot to the tower and the lighthouse, though landing on the main island is regulated by the Conservatoire du Littoral and tourist boats crowd it at times.
