Approach and anchoring
Weed bottom. Sheltered from W through N to E, open to the south. Depths off the village are less than charted. Holding is better on the east side of the bay, towards Sun Bay.
Practical
About 15 buoys, some paying and some private, plus anchoring. Public tender dock at the eastern end of the anchorage. Esperanza has restaurants along the malecón and limited groceries. Fuel and water go out to the boat by jerry can, and Noonsite reports tender and outboard thefts, so lock the tender.
Ashore
The Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust runs a small free museum on the malecón, open Tuesday to Sunday. Balneario Sun Bay is less than 1 km to the east, and Mosquito Bay 1.7 NM east by sea.
