Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom. Sheltered from every sector except the south-east, the side it opens to. Hurricane Hole, the northern arm, belongs to the Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument, where anchoring is prohibited, so drop the hook in Coral Harbor itself.
Practical
Anchoring is allowed, with a dinghy pontoon according to Navily. Bars and restaurants line the road at the head of the harbour.
History
The St. John slave revolt began here on 23 November 1733, when enslaved Africans took the Danish fort of Fortsberg above Coral Bay. They held most of the island for about six months.
