Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sheltered from north-west round through east to south-east, on sand and rock. Anchoring is prohibited on the south coast of the park. Orange NPS moorings with blue stripes are reserved for boats snorkelling or diving.
Practical
No fishing from NPS moorings, no anchor while on a mooring and no tying up by the stern cleats. Moorings must be cleared when a tropical storm warning is forecast.
History
In 1969 four aquanauts lived for 60 days in the Tektite habitat on the sea floor off Cabritte Horn. In 1970 the Tektite II programme included an all-female team led by Sylvia Earle, who spent two weeks underwater studying the reef.
