Lake port on the western shore of Lac du Bourget at Le Bourget-du-Lac, Savoie, the largest natural lake in France.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Open water approach on the lake with no tidal constraint. Watch for local Bise and Vent du Midi thermal winds that can rise quickly in the afternoon. No buoyed channel required, depth is sufficient up to the pontoons.
Practical
Pontoon berths mainly for local boats. A slipway with trailer parking allows launching, for a fee in summer. Port du Bourget-du-Lac lies 0.3 NM to the south with the main services of the commune, and Petit Port d'Aix-les-Bains is 2.3 NM to the NE on the opposite shore.
Ashore
The Voie Verte du Lac du Bourget cycle path runs along the shore past the port, linking Le Bourget-du-Lac village to Aix-les-Bains. The Prieuré du Bourget and its 11th-century church lie within walking distance in the village centre.
