Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south between Cap Morgiou and the cliffs of the Massif de Marseilleveyre. The one patch of sand lies in the north-west corner in about 12 metres, room for only two or three boats, the rest posidonia where anchoring is banned. Holding on the sand is good but the cover is thin and can be uncertain in strong winds. Sheltered from the mistral by the north and west cliffs, though wash from passing boats and south to south-east swell bring a roll that eases in the evening. Watch for night fishing nets entering or leaving in the dark.

Practical

Anchoring is regulated inside the park: the ZMEL of Morgiou sets buoy fields and forbidden zones, check the current Préfecture Maritime decree before dropping. No services at the anchorage itself.

Ashore

Fishing hamlet of Morgiou is 300 metres to the north-west with a small bar-restaurant in season. Cliff path to the Calanque de Sugiton leaves from the port, 45 minutes on foot, and in summer this trail needs a booking through the national park. The Cosquer cave entrance lies under water at the foot of Cap Morgiou 37 metres down.
