Marina of 950 berths in the bay of Le Lavandou on the Var coast, at the foot of the Massif des Maures.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Open approach from the south across the bay. Entrance between two jetties lit by red and green lights. Max draught 2.5 m. Sheltered from the mistral behind Cap Bénat but exposed to easterly winds, though the seawall cuts much of the wind once inside. Call on VHF 9 or by phone and a tender comes out to guide boats to the berth and help with the lines.
Practical
950 berths, harbour office open year round. Water and electricity at the pontoons, with separate potable and desalinated supplies, the latter for rinsing hulls, so take care not to cross them when filling tanks. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol. Toilets, showers and a laundry. The office lends bikes for running errands, and there is a Uship chandlery in the technical zone. Shops, bakeries and restaurants on the Boulevard du Front de Mer within 300 m.
Ashore
Sandy beach of La Favière west of the marina, 200 m on foot, and a dog beach at the far end of the port. Sentier du littoral around Cap Bénat to the south, 3 km of signed coastal path. Medieval village of Bormes-les-Mimosas 3 km inland, reached by the Zou bus, labelled Plus Beaux Villages de France associate, known for its mimosa trees flowering in February.
Story
Fort de Brégançon, the summer residence of the French President, sits on a rocky islet 2 nm SE of the marina and has hosted heads of state since Charles de Gaulle in 1968.
