Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom, sheltered from east round to south-west, open to the north and west, so a northerly swell sets into the bay. Since 2023 the bay has a field of about 75 paying buoys for boats up to 20 metres and 4 metres draught, and visiting boats are asked to use a buoy rather than anchor inside the field.
Practical
Buoys are allocated through the port of Marigot when clearing in; cruisers reported in 2023 that bookings are taken 48 hours ahead. Dinghy to the town quay for the waterfront market and shops. Fuel and water at Marina Fort Louis.
Ashore
Fort Louis, built in 1789, overlooks the bay from the hill above the marina. The waterfront market is busiest on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
