Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south between the Cap de Carqueiranne and the Presqu'île de Giens. Drop on the sandy patches in 5 to 10 metres, avoiding the posidonia meadow, and keep off the irregular rocky ground between here and Port des Oursinières, where rock can rise suddenly close inshore; a tripping line is wise. The site falls within the Natura 2000 zone of the Var calanques and cliffs.
Practical
Shelter from NE, E and SE, but a residual southerly swell can set the boat rolling even in light winds. Fully exposed to the west and to the mistral funnelling out of Toulon bay. Port des Oursinières is 0.4 NM S, Port des Salettes 2.5 NM E if the wind shifts.
Ashore
Plage de la Garonne and Plage des Bonnettes are reachable by tender, and the sailing club behind a small breakwater in the middle of the bay may allow a dinghy to be left there. A small convenience store, bakery, pharmacy and a couple of beach restaurants stand behind the beach, with the village of Le Pradet and its market 1.5 km inland. The sentier du littoral leads to Cap Garonne and its old copper mine, now a geology museum, about 30 minutes on foot.
