Approach and anchoring
Open approach from the west. Shelter from N, NE, E and SE, so the bay works best in the trade wind regime. Exposed to southerly and westerly swells. The bay is small and deepens quickly, with a green buoy standing in about 22 m; anchor closer in on sand in around 5 m. Watch for stones and wrecks on the bottom. Hold on sand is fair, less reliable on the algae patches, so set the anchor carefully and check the bite.
Practical
Pure anchorage with no pontoon or services. Fort-de-France and its marina lie within the same bay for fuel, water and provisioning.
