Guide

Approach and anchoring

Sheltered from NW round through N and E to SE, open to the south and west. Sand, weed and mud bottom. No anchoring in the swinging area of the cross-bay ferries off Pointe Simon, nor in the French Navy zone along Fort Saint-Louis.

Practical

Under the prefectoral order of 4 November 2025, on a one-year trial from 1 December 2025, anchoring is limited to 48 hours, with a maximum of 8 days a month per boat and no return within 24 hours. Beach, jetty and fresh water ashore. Entry and exit clearance is done online.

Ashore

The covered Grand Marché, Saint-Louis cathedral, the Schœlcher library and La Savane park are within walking distance of the landing. Ferries to Les Trois-Îlets leave from the waterfront.

History

Fort Saint-Louis, built in the seventeenth century on the point that closes the bay to the east, is still occupied by the French Navy.
