Approach and anchoring

Coastal approach along the Côte Bleue, giving Cap Couronne a berth of at least 200 m to clear the foul ground off the lighthouse. The head of the cove is closed by yellow buoys with a marked channel, so anchor off them in 5 to 9 metres on sand, room for about fifteen boats, with boulders on the west side and unmarked ground chains laid for the summer buoys. Sheltered from NW, N, NE and E, holding well under mistral, but a W, SW or S swell wraps round the Carro breakwater and rolls the bay, worse by day. Leave if the sea gets up from the south.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services. Carro, 5 minutes away by dinghy, has a fishing harbour with a few visitor berths, water and fuel in season, plus a morning fish market, a small supermarket, bakery and cafés. Port des Laurons 1.8 nm NW is the secondary shelter.

Ashore

Plage du Verdon sand beach at the head of the cove. Phare de Cap Couronne built in 1960 on the cape 0.5 nm west. Sentier du littoral of the Côte Bleue Marine Park runs along the coast to Sausset-les-Pins.
