Approach from the south clear of the Karek Greis rocks marked by a W cardinal; more rocks lie to the east, so a south-westerly line in is easier. The anse shelters from N, NE and NW, though some swell works in even in a northerly and it can be choppy in fine weather; it is fully open to S and SW Biscay swell. Drop on sand in 4 to 6 m at low water, clear of the sailing-school buoys, whose dinghies are busy from about 0900. Lesconil port entrance dries and serves mainly the local trawler fleet.

Practical

Mooring forain only. Land by dinghy at Lesconil harbour, but mind the current off the ster, the small river that empties in front of the port. The town has a bakery, grocery and a few restaurants within 400 m of the fishing quay. The Glénans archipelago lies 2.6 NM NE and offers multiple anchorages in settled weather.

History

Lesconil was one of the main sardine ports of the Bigouden coast from the 1880s onward, with a cannery operating in the village until the mid-20th century. The port still hosts a working coastal trawler fleet, and the daily return of the boats around 16:00 remains a public event on the quay.
