Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east, the bay is easy to identify between two rocky headlands. Sand bottom at 3 to 8 m, though a few weed patches sit over rock, so check the anchor is set in sand. An unmarked rock about 1.5 metres down lies on the north side of the bay in around 5 metres, so work that side slowly. Sheltered from S, SW, W and NW, but an easterly swell tends to work in even when the forecast looks well protected, and it often rolls at night.
Practical
Mooring forain on sand, good holding. No marina facilities. Solenzara harbour 5 NM N has diesel, water and a full service marina. Small beach shops and restaurants in summer.
Ashore
Favone beach runs along the anchorage, with two or three beach restaurants open from June to September, among them the pizzeria U Venequi and the restaurant À Pineta, and a small grocery near the beach. A beach club can play music into the early hours in season, and a road runs behind the beach. The hamlet of Favone 300 m inland has a grocery and bakery in season. The Bavella needles hiking area is 30 km inland by road for a day trip.
