The upper St. Lawrence as it leaves Lake Ontario, strewn with islands and shoals between New York State and Ontario. Cape Vincent at the head, Clayton and French Creek, Thousand Island Park and Fishers Landing, Smugglers Island and Waterson Point, a Wellesley Island state park reached only by boat, then Alexandria Bay, Morristown and Ogdensburg downstream. The Seaway channel runs through the middle with ships up to 222 metres long: cross it quickly and keep clear. Cape Vincent and Alexandria Bay are US customs ports of entry.
