Yacht Club of Stone Harbor
- Type
- Harbour
Private members' club on the back bay at Stone Harbor, New Jersey, on the Great Channel side of the New Jersey Intracoastal Waterway.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Great Channel off the New Jersey Intracoastal Waterway. The ICW carries about 6 feet at mean low water through this stretch, with persistent shoaling, so boats drawing over 3 feet should time their passage on a rising tide. Hereford Inlet, the nearest ocean entrance, carries roughly 7 feet.
Practical
Guest docks at 9001 Sunset Drive, in service from April to October. Two bay-front dining rooms. Sailing, kayaking and a youth programme run through the season.
History
The Stone Harbor Yacht Club was incorporated in 1909 and opened on 4 July 1910 on the Great Channel waterfront. It closed during the First World War and reopened in later years.
