Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchor in the lower estuary on a mixed bottom of sand, mud, rock and weed; holding varies, so check the anchor is well set. The reach is open to the west. Depths are modest, so this suits shallow-draught boats and a careful watch on the sounder.
Practical
No facilities on the river itself. Nearest marinas are Nacote Creek Marina, 6.1 miles to the south, and Munro Marina, 7.1 miles to the south-east.
Ashore
The river drains a forested area of the Pinelands National Reserve. Wharton State Forest borders the upper river, with canoe and kayak runs and the Batona Trail. The lower Mullica is known for its runs of striped bass.
