Marina on Rudee Inlet at Virginia Beach, home to Virginia's largest sport-fishing charter fleet, with 45 berths.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Rudee Inlet opens straight onto the Atlantic between two jetties, with no Intracoastal Waterway link. The federal entrance channel is dredged to about 3 metres at low water but shoals between dredging cycles, so check the latest survey before entry. Approach and dockside depths run roughly 3.6 and 2.4 metres. Open seven days a week for fuel and dockage.
Practical
45 berths, 15 of them transient, on fixed and floating docks for vessels up to 36 metres. Diesel at most berths, petrol on the floating docks. Tackle and bait shop, ice, large car park. The renovated Southside marina takes boats over 8.5 metres air draught.
Ashore
Virginia Beach boardwalk and oceanfront are a short walk east. The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center sits about 1 km away on General Booth Boulevard.
