Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the State Boat Channel via the dredged Amityville Cut, then through the Great South Bay Channel. Outside the channels the bay runs shallow, averaging little more than 4 feet, so stay on the marked water.
Practical
A private club with berths, a swimming pool, a fitness room and dining. Sailing and swimming instruction run alongside day boating, cruising and racing for members.
History
The club was incorporated in 1900 by nine amateur sailors. Member John E. Ireland gave the land for the clubhouse, which opened in July 1901 and hosted its first regatta that summer.
