Approach and anchoring
Approach on the Saône between PK 97 and 98, downstream of the road bridge. Minimum depth around 2 m at the pontoon. Current usually under 2 kn outside floods. Halte fluviale de la Truchère lies 3.2 NM SE at the Seille confluence.
Practical
Ten berths on a floating pontoon, max draught 2 m. Water and electricity on the quay. Town centre at 300 m with bakery, supermarket and restaurants.
Ashore
Abbaye Saint-Philibert, one of the oldest Romanesque churches in France, stands 400 m from the quay. Musée Greuze at 500 m holds works by the 18th-century painter born in Tournus. Weekly market Saturday morning on Place de l'Hôtel de Ville.
History
Tournus grew around the abbey founded in the 9th century to shelter the relics of Saint Philibert, transferred from Noirmoutier after Viking raids. The Romanesque nave dates from around 1020.
