Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Gulf of Mexico across shallow nearshore waters where seagrass beds and oyster bars line the river mouth. The river carries the protected water to the village.
Practical
Twenty berths on floating pontoons with about 7 feet alongside. The fuel berth supplies 89 octane petrol and non-ethanol fuel. Ice and a ship store on site. Repairs cover hull, engine and propeller work, with dry storage for boats up to 26 feet.
Ashore
Suwannee is an unincorporated village of about 300 people at the end of the Suwannee River, the second-longest river in Florida, running 246 miles from the Okefenokee Swamp. The river mouth and its tidal creeks are fished year round for redfish and speckled trout.
