Approach and anchoring
Reached via the Canal de la Meuse, navigable inland waterway between Givet and Troussey. Locks operated by VNF, river licence required. Flat navigation, no tidal constraints. Mouzon lies 8 nm northwest as a nearby halt.

Pontoon moorings with water and shore power. Village shops and restaurants within walking distance in Stenay. Supermarket at the edge of town.
Ashore
Musée européen de la Bière installed in a 17th century military magasin, one of the largest beer museums in Europe. Remains of the 17th century citadel walls. Verdun battlefield memorials at 40 km, Douaumont ossuary and Fort de Vaux.
History
Stenay was a fortified town held by the Duchy of Lorraine then by the Condé family before Louis XIV ordered its fortifications dismantled after the 1654 siege. The town housed a German headquarters in 1918, where Crown Prince Wilhelm stayed during the final months of the war.
