Guide
Approach and anchoring
The basin lies just south of Peter O. Knight Airport and opens to Hillsborough Bay. Shelter is limited, the basin being open except from the north-east. A mooring field and aids to navigation have been planned as part of a city dock replacement project.
Practical
Davis Islands Yacht Club sits 0.1 mile to the south-west and Marjorie Park Marina 1.2 miles to the north. Fresh water is available ashore. Seaplane Basin Park has a beach, a dog off-leash area, picnic tables and a boat ramp.
Story
Davis Islands were built in the 1920s on dredged fill, and the basin is named for the seaplane operations once based here alongside the adjacent airport.
