Approach and anchoring

The harbour lies on the New York shore near Chippewa Bay, sheltered from the main river channel. Approach off the channel and watch for shoals and rock close to the islands and shoreline.

Practical

The marina, running since 1966, has transient dockage and a marine and general store. It sells non-ethanol petrol and propane, bait and fishing licences, and stocks a large parts department with factory-trained mechanics for Mercury and Evinrude motors. There are cottages and boat rentals on site, plus the Foster's Harbor Inn restaurant.

Ashore

A shuttle runs from the harbour to Singer Castle on Dark Island, a 28-room stone house completed in 1905. The marina is a few minutes by water from Alexandria Bay, the main resort town of the Thousand Islands.
