Approach and anchoring
Entered from the canal de Bourgogne at the junction with the Armançon. Locks of 38.5 m by 5.2 m on this section. No current on the canal itself, moderate flow in the Armançon after rain.
Practical
Quay moorings with water and electricity bollards. Fuel not available at the port. Capitainerie open in season. Shops, bakery and supermarket in Saint-Florentin town centre at about 600 m.
Ashore
Collegiate church of Saint-Florentin, late Gothic and Renaissance, on the hill above the town at 700 m from the port. Saint-Florentin cheese, a soft washed-rind cow's milk cheese, is produced locally and sold at the Saturday morning market. Towpath cycling along the canal on the Tour de Bourgogne à vélo route.
History
The canal de Bourgogne, linking the Yonne to the Saône, was completed in 1832 after more than 50 years of construction. Saint-Florentin stands at the junction of the canal with the Armançon valley.
