Guide
Approach and anchoring
Racine sits about 30 miles south of Milwaukee and 60 miles north of Chicago. Approach the breakwater-protected harbour from Lake Michigan; the club berths lie inside the basin.
Practical
Member club in the north-west corner of the Racine harbour basin. Visitor slips for cruising sailors, with heads, showers, a bar and lounge and a restaurant. Slips have been dredged to remove the shallow patches that once troubled deeper-draught boats. Fuel and pump-out are available within the same harbour.
History
The club was chartered on 23 January 1916, the year racing on the lake had grown from Racine's busy boatbuilding trade. It helped found the Lake Michigan Yachting Association and hosted association regattas in 1936, 1949 and 1967.
