Reached by the Sambre à l'Oise canal network, currently being restored for through navigation. Lock of Hautmont on the urban reach. Airdraft and draught limited to Freycinet gabarit, maximum beam 5.05 m.

Quay mooring with limited services, water point nearby. Shops and supermarket within walking distance in Hautmont town centre. Nearest full marina at Valescaut 16.8 nm north-west.
Ashore
Site of the former abbey of Hautmont founded in the 7th century, destroyed during the French Revolution. Forêt de Mormal, one of the largest forests in northern France at 9 000 hectares, starts 4 km east of the quay. Maubeuge fortifications by Vauban are 5 km upstream.
History
The abbey of Hautmont was founded around 643 by Saint Vincent Madelgaire and became one of the major monastic centres of the Hainaut region before being dissolved in 1790.
