Approach and anchoring
Access via the Moselle canalised or the Canal de la Marne au Rhin. Tirant d'eau 2 m max. Standard lock operating hours set by VNF, call the lock keeper on VHF 20 or by phone for passage. No tidal constraint.
Practical
60 berths, water and electricity on the pontoons. Fortified town centre within walking distance for provisions, bakery and supermarket.
Ashore
Cathedral Saint-Etienne, begun in 1221, stands 500 m from the basin. Vauban bastioned walls encircle the old town. Collegiate church of Saint-Gengoult with its late Gothic cloister is 600 m from the port.
History
Toul was one of the Three Bishoprics of Lorraine, independent from France until 1552. Vauban upgraded the enceinte between 1698 and 1700. The port basin occupies the former Canal de la Marne au Rhin junction opened in 1853.
