Sand-bottom anchorage on the west coast of Oahu, Hawaii, beside Waianae Small Boat Harbor and sheltered by a jetty.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchor on sand in 3 to 5 metres inside, or 6 to 10 metres on the outside where holding is better. Keep west of the marked swimming area. Well protected from NE through SE, but a heavy west swell breaks into the bay, mainly in winter. Room for four or five boats.
Practical
Anchoring is permitted by permit for 72 hours or less; arrange it through Waianae Small Boat Harbor next door. Fresh-water showers are close to the beach. Ko Olina lies about 8 nautical miles to the SE for marina berths and fuel.
Ashore
Poka'i Bay Beach Park sits behind the anchorage, with a calm swimming area used by local families. The voyaging canoe Hokule'a berthed here in September 2024.
