Open anchorage off North Point near Manistee on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, mud bottom.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Lake Michigan with no charted obstructions in deep water. The Manistee harbour entrance lies to the south, marked by three breakwater piers and a north pierhead lighthouse. Hold well clear of the channel, as 600 ft self-unloading freighters work it from spring through early January.
Practical
A pure anchorage with no facilities. Holding is good in mud. Pier 31 Marina lies 6.7 miles to the south-west and Seng's Marina, on Manistee Lake, 7.5 miles to the south, both reached through the Manistee River channel.
