River stop on the right bank of the Saône at Neuville-sur-Saône, about 15 km north of Lyon in the Rhône department.

Approach and anchoring
Access via the Saône between PK 10 and PK 11 counted from the confluence with the Rhône at Lyon. Freycinet gauge waterway, maximum draught 1,80 m, air draught governed by the downstream bridges at around 6 m at normal water level. Current usually weak but can reach 2 knots during winter high water. No locks between Lyon and the site.
Practical
Short pontoon for visiting boats managed by the commune. Water point on the quay. Electricity available at some berths. No fuel on site, nearest diesel by road in Neuville town centre. Bakeries, supermarket and restaurants within 300 m of the quay.
Ashore
Town centre of Neuville-sur-Saône with its church of Saints-Philippe-et-Jacques, eighteenth century, around 300 m from the quay. ViaRhona cycle route follows the Saône on the opposite bank, continuous from Lyon to the Swiss border. Monts d'Or regional nature area to the south, with trails rising to 625 m at Mont Verdun.
History
Neuville was founded as Vimy in the thirteenth century by the monks of the Ile Barbe abbey, renamed Neuville during the French Revolution. The town supplied Lyon with river stone and wine from the Coteaux du Lyonnais until the railway displaced water transport in the second half of the nineteenth century.
