Flooded island anchorage in the South Delta of California, between Bethel Island and Discovery Bay.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Mildred Island flooded in the 1980s and now forms an open basin of deep water. Most boats anchor in the SW corner, which holds well in mud and is sheltered from SW through NW. The surrounding open water gives plenty of room to sail.
Practical
Holland Riverside Marina lies 2.7 nm to the W and Delta Yacht Club 3.4 nm to the NE. There are no facilities at the anchorage itself.
Story
The basin draws large summer rafts, with boat clubs gathering scores of vessels over holiday weekends and forming wide circles on the water.
