Municipal marina on the western shore of Green Bay at Menominee, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, at the mouth of the Menominee River.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Green Bay into the Menominee and Marinette harbour. The entrance lies between two parallel piers about 400 feet apart, marked by the Menominee North Pier light working with a skeletal range tower. The dredged channel carries good depth for a commercial port. The marina is on the Michigan side, north of the river mouth.
Practical
272 berths plus around 20 wall-side tie-ups, on heavy-duty floating pontoons. Water, 30 and 50 amp shore power, petrol and diesel at the fuel berth, pump-out, showers, laundry and a boaters' lounge. Open mid-May to mid-October. Courtesy bicycles available.
Ashore
Marina Park next to the basin hosts summer concerts and town events. The Menominee North Pier lighthouse, rebuilt in 1927 and restored in 2017, can be reached on foot along the pier and is open for tours from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
History
Harbour works at the river mouth began in 1871, when two piers were pushed out into Green Bay. The Menominee and Marinette twin cities grew on the timber trade that moved through this port.
