Approach and anchoring
Reached from Albemarle Sound by entering the deep Kendrick or Mackeys Creek on the south shore. Sheltered berths take vessels up to about 40 feet with up to 5 feet draught.
Practical
Long and short-term berths. A travel lift and full boat services are on site, with a marine store and bait for sound fishing. The Landing Restaurant serves casual food at the marina.
History
Fishing houses have lined Mackeys Creek since the 1700s. In 1899 the Norfolk-Southern Railroad brought in the John W. Garrett train ferry, and a railway trestle through Mackeys Landing was completed in 1910.
