Marina on Maumee Bay at the western end of Lake Erie, on the Lost Peninsula near Erie, Michigan.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Maumee Bay, just east of Toledo. The marina sits on a 250-acre exclave of Michigan reached overland only through Ohio. All berths are floating pontoons, which absorb the lake's seasonal level changes.
Practical
Family-run marina with a marine store. Marine fuel is sold from a fuel berth staffed at weekends and on holidays, with little markup for members. Two restaurants on the peninsula. A campground adjoins the site.
Story
The Lost Peninsula became a Michigan exclave after the 1835-1836 Toledo War boundary dispute. Its 140 or so residents must drive south into Ohio to reach the rest of Michigan by road.
