Approach and anchoring
Reached via the Canal du Midi on the Seuil de Naurouze section, the high point of the canal at 189 m where the waters split east towards the Mediterranean and west towards the Atlantic via the Canal de Garonne. Maximum draft 1.4 m, maximum length 30 m under VNF rules. Speed 6 km/h.
Practical
Short public quay along the canal with mooring rings. No water or electricity on the quay itself. Village centre with bakery, small grocery and a restaurant within 400 m. Port-Lauragais service base at 1.6 NM north-west for water, electricity, fuel and pump-out.
Ashore
Obélisque de Riquet at the Seuil de Naurouze, 3 km by towpath, marks the watershed of the Canal du Midi and commemorates its engineer. Bastide town of Castelnaudary with the Grand Bassin of the canal at 5.4 NM east, home of the cassoulet. Canal towpath open to cyclists and walkers passes along the quay.
