Approach and anchoring
Enter the Toms River from Barnegat Bay between the marker pairs west of Good Luck Point. Stay in the marked channel, depths drop quickly outside. Around 5 ft alongside the public pier at the Gazebo on River Avenue.
Practical
Recreational tie-up at the Central Avenue dock is limited to four hours per day, between 07:00 and dusk. The Lake Drive dock allows a 30-minute stop in daylight. No fuel and no power at the public dock, the Island Heights Yacht Club lies immediately west and Nelson Marine Basin is 0.3 NM east for berthing, fuel and pump-out.
Ashore
Island Heights is a small borough of Victorian-era summer houses listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Ocean County Artists Guild gallery stands a block from the waterfront. Winter flounder fishing from the pier in March, April and May.
