Small inland marina on Lac d'Hourtin-Carcans in the Médoc, the largest natural freshwater lake in France.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Access is via the lake only, no sea link. Maximum draught 0.4 m, so the basin suits dinghies, catamarans and trailerable boats. No VHF watch. Shelter is good from all quarters inside the basin, but the open lake kicks up short chop in strong westerlies.
Practical
6 berths, essentially a club and launching base. Ramp, parking and sailing club on site. Shops, bakery and restaurants in Hourtin-Port village within 300 m.
Ashore
Vélodyssée cycle route EV1 runs past the marina, with 80 km of forest tracks toward Lacanau and the Pointe de Grave. Atlantic surf beaches at Hourtin-Plage 10 km west. Réserve naturelle des dunes et marais d'Hourtin borders the north of the lake.
